Bharat: In a blatant breach of the ceasefire agreement, Pakistani Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire during the night of 04-05 May 2025 across multiple sectors along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu & Kashmir. The affected areas included Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajauri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor—sectors that have historically borne the brunt of cross-border hostilities.
The Indian Army responded with precision and restraint, delivering a calibrated yet firm reply to suppress the enemy fire and prevent any escalation. According to defence sources, Indian posts remained on high alert throughout the night, ensuring civilian safety while effectively neutralising the threat.
“There was no loss of life or injury reported on our side. Our troops acted with utmost professionalism and resolve,” an official from Northern Command confirmed.
The unprovoked firing comes at a time when efforts for sustained peace along the LoC had shown some promise following the 2021 reaffirmation of the ceasefire understanding. However, the latest provocation casts a shadow over these fragile developments, raising concerns of renewed hostilities.
Security experts view this act as part of a broader strategy by Pakistan to divert attention from its internal instability and ongoing international scrutiny over its support for cross-border militancy.
The Indian Army remains fully committed to safeguarding the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation and stands prepared to respond to any further misadventures.
Further surveillance and intelligence monitoring continue across the affected sectors to ensure peace and stability along the LoC.
