In a major success against insurgency joint teams of the Indian Army Assam Rifles and various central and state police forces carried out a series of operations across Manipur resulting in the arrest of 17 insurgent cadres and the recovery of a large number of weapons and explosives.
Between 27 April and 04 May 2025 operations were launched in the hill and valley districts of Kakching Tengnoupal Bishnupur and Kangpokpi. The missions were conducted based on specific intelligence and carried out in coordination with Manipur Police CRPF BSF and ITBP.
Weapons and Explosives Seized
The joint teams recovered 31 weapons 14 improvised explosive devices grenades ammunition and other warlike materials. The seizures include rifles pistols mortars homemade launchers and other arms hidden in various locations.
Day by Day Breakdown
On 26 April in Kakching District the Assam Rifles Indian Army and Manipur Police conducted a search in Moltingcham village and recovered four weapons grenades and ammunition. On the same day six IEDs were recovered during a patrol in T Minou area of Tengnoupal District.
On 29 April in Tengnoupal the Assam Rifles searched the Salvom Molnoi axis where they destroyed three bunkers and seized eight IEDs grenades and warlike stores. On the same day near Loktak Lake in Bishnupur two weapons along with explosives were recovered by Army and Manipur Police.
In Kangpokpi District the Army CRPF and Manipur Police recovered four weapons from dense forest near Phaileng. On 30 April another joint team recovered eight more weapons including an INSAS rifle and improvised mortars during a search operation.
On 01 May a search in Maohing Kuki area of Kangpokpi led to the recovery of five weapons grenades and other materials. Finally on 04 May in Samuchep Lok Nala near Ningthoukhong in Bishnupur District eight more weapons including pistols rifles and improvised mortars were found.
Insurgents Apprehended
In total 17 cadres linked to various hill and valley based insurgent groups were apprehended. The teams also recovered a pistol mobile phones and two wheelers from their possession.
All arrested individuals and recovered items have been handed over to Manipur Police for further investigation.
