NCC Cadets Strengthen National Readiness with Mock Disaster Drill in Manipur and Nagaland

Over 600 NCC cadets from Manipur and Nagaland participated in a nationwide mock disaster preparedness drill on 7 May 2025. The exercise, aimed at enhancing emergency response.

In a coordinated display of discipline and preparedness, over 600 NCC cadets from Manipur and Nagaland took part in a nationwide mock disaster preparedness drill on 7 May 2025. The large-scale exercise, held under the supervision of the NDRF-SDRF state police fire and emergency services and local medical authorities aimed to test and enhance response mechanisms during emergencies be it natural disasters like earthquakes and floods or situations arising from internal disturbances.

Cadets from different battalions and educational institutions demonstrated critical skills such as first aid, evacuation, fire safety, communication, crowd control, and traffic management. Their composure and professionalism drew praise from observers and officials involved in the operation.

In Manipur 250 cadets from the 65 Manipur Girls Battalion stood out for their coordination and commitment during Operation Abhyas. They were deployed across key locations including JNV Tuinom in Churachandpur Johnstone Higher Secondary School in Imphal West Ukhrul and Ningkouthong HSS in Bishnupur. Their efforts conducted in partnership with the district administration were part of the broader nationwide initiative supported by the Government of India.

In Nagaland cadets from the 25 Nagaland Battalion participated in drills at the Deputy Commissioner office in Mokokchung. There, they were tasked with key responsibilities in medical assistance, firefighting, search and rescue and traffic control. In Dimapur and Kohima cadets from the 1 Nagaland Battalion Air Squadron, and NCC Company participated in hands on briefings and practical exercises at various institutions including Patkai Christian College,Kohima Science College,Livingstone School,DPS Dimapur,MGHSS Mokokchung and Pilgrim School Dimapur.

They took part in civil defence briefings first aid training,casualty evacuation and safety classes focused on air raid precautions.

The Ministry of Defence appreciated the energy,discipline and readiness of the cadets emphasizing that such exercises are vital in preparing youth to become first responders and responsible citizens in times of crisis.(PR)
