Bharat: In an age where misinformation spreads like wildfire, a recent fake claim regarding a so-called fidayeen (suicide) attack on an Army brigade in Rajouri, Jammu and Kashmir, created unwarranted panic across digital platforms. The false narrative, designed to mislead and sow confusion among the public was quickly debunked by the Press Information Bureau's (PIB) fact checking arm.

A video falsely claiming a terror strike on a military cantonment went viral, prompting speculation and concern. However PIB Fact Check, the government's official fact-verification unit, clarified in a firm statement that no such attack had taken place. The circulating video was flagged as misleading and devoid of any factual basis.

"No such fidayeen or suicide attack has occurred on any army cantonment in Rajouri or anywhere else" PIB Fact Check confirmed.

Authorities emphasized that such misinformation not only disrupts public order but also undermines national security efforts by spreading baseless fear. Citizens are urged to verify all sensitive information from credible sources before sharing.

The misleading content was not just a matter of rumor it was a deliberate attempt to provoke anxiety and confusion at a time when national security is of paramount concern.

The PIB's intervention underscores the vital role of responsible journalism and the importance of cross-checking facts before believing or amplifying such reports.(PR)
